BILLS · ONE GSTIN PER DOOR

GST on a restaurant chain, one outlet at a time

A chain is not one invoice with many cities on it. Each franchise outlet keeps its own bill header. Head office can look in. The guest bill for Bandra carries Bandra’s GSTIN.

The rate on the bill is the rate on the item

QuickKOT charges the tax the restaurant saved on that item. Prepared restaurant food in India is commonly put on the bill at 5% GST. Alcohol is commonly state VAT, and it can sit on the same bill as a separate tax. Confirm the rate for your premises with your chartered accountant. A hotel restaurant above a room-tariff threshold is a different case from a standalone dining room.

The food-and-bar note is one bill for food GST and alcohol VAT.

What QuickKOT does not do

QuickKOT does not file GSTR. It does not generate an invoice reference number, and it does not raise an e-invoice. The bill is the restaurant’s bill, with that outlet’s FSSAI and GSTIN in the header. Returns, e-invoice, and the choice of rate stay with the restaurant and its advisor.

The central kitchen is a different paper

Hub-and-spoke logistics moves materials from the central kitchen to the outlet. The proforma on that supply says it is for transit representation only and is not a tax invoice. Goods and shipment charges land on the outlet ledger. The outlet pays both. That ledger is not the guest’s GST bill. The guest bill is still raised at the outlet, under that outlet’s header.

The supply screens are on hub-and-spoke logistics. The chain shape is on restaurant chains.

Questions

Does each outlet bill under its own GSTIN?

Yes. Each Multi-Outlet location has its own bill header, including FSSAI and GSTIN. Head office does not merge those GSTINs onto one invoice.

Does QuickKOT file GST returns or raise an e-invoice?

No. QuickKOT prints the bill with the tax the restaurant set on the item. It does not file GST returns and it does not generate an IRN or an e-invoice.

Is the hub proforma a tax invoice?

No. Proforma is for transit representation only. It is not a tax invoice. Shipment charges on that supply sit on the outlet ledger. The guest bill is a separate document, under that outlet’s own header.
