Menu Excel upload — what each column means
Use this when you fill the menu spreadsheet. On Menu, download Template, fill the columns, then upload the file. Economy and above. Basic does not have Excel upload.
One row is one dish. A name that already exists in that kitchen is updated. A new name is added. A row that is wrong is skipped. The other rows still save. The message names the row and what to fix.
Leave a cell empty when you do not use that column. Do not put the price in the description, or the kitchen name in the item name.
name
What it is. The dish name guests and the kitchen see.
Example. Paneer tikka
Put here. The name of the item.
Do not put. A blank name. The kitchen name. The price.
category
What it is. The group this dish sits in, such as Starters or Mains.
Example. Starters
Put here. A category you already have, or a new one. A new name is created under that kitchen.
Do not put. The kitchen name. A new item needs a category.
price
What it is. What you charge.
Example. 220 for a plate. 400 when the item is sold per kg. 80 when it is sold per litre.
Put here. A number. For a default item, the price of one plate. For kg, the price of 1 kg. For L, the price of 1 litre.
Do not put. A rupee sign, the word “per kg”, or text. A new item needs a price.
unit
What it is. How the dish is sold.
Example. Leave it empty for a normal plate. kg for weight. L for volume.
Put here. Nothing, kg, or L. Capital letters are fine. litre and liter are read as L.
Do not put. g, ml, plate, pcs, or any other word. That row is skipped. The message says the unit must be blank, kg, or L. The rest of the file still uploads.
hsn
What it is. The HSN code for this dish. Optional.
Example. 21069099
Put here. The code, if you have one. It prints on the bill only when Profile has Print HSN on the bill turned on. The kitchen ticket never prints it.
Do not put. The tax name. A long sentence. More than 16 characters is cut.
description
What it is. A short line about the dish. Optional.
Example. Plain item. No sizes.
Put here. Words a guest or cashier can read.
Do not put. The price, the HSN code, or the sizes. Those have their own columns.
station
What it is. The kitchen that owns this dish.
Example. Grill
Put here. The kitchen name exactly as it is under Settings → Stations.
Do not put. A kitchen that does not exist yet. That row is skipped.
active
What it is. Whether the dish can be sold on POS.
Example. Yes
Put here. Yes or No. A blank cell on a new item means Yes.
Do not put. On or Off. No also turns the QR menu off for that dish.
online_active
What it is. Whether the dish shows on the QR menu.
Example. Yes
Put here. Yes or No. It can be on only when the dish is also active on POS.
Do not put. On or Off.
Type
What it is. The food sign on the item. Optional.
Example. V
Put here. V for veg, E for egg, N for non-veg. You can also write veg, egg, or non veg. Leave it empty for no sign.
Do not put. Any other word. That row is skipped.
tax
What it is. Which tax this dish uses.
Example. Default
Put here. Default, or the name of an optional tax you already saved under Settings → Tax.
Do not put. A tax name that is not in Settings. That row is skipped. Do not put the HSN code here.
Variants
What it is. Sizes, such as Regular and Large. Optional. Leave it empty when the dish has one price and no sizes.
Example. Copy a sizes row from the Template file. Do not type a size as plain words.
Put here. Nothing, or the sizes block from the template.
Do not put. Sizes on a kg or L item. A weight or volume dish can have add-ons, not sizes. That row is skipped. Do not put add-ons in this column.
addons
What it is. Extra choices with their own price, such as extra cheese. Optional.
Example. Copy an add-on row from the Template file.
Put here. Nothing, or the add-on block from the template. An add-on can apply to every size, or to one size only.

stock_qty
What it is. How many plates are left, when track stock is Yes.

What it is. The plate count that should warn you to restock.
Example. 5
Put here. A number, zero or more.
Do not put. A negative number, or a date.
